Russian plane crash: Tupolev 134

The Russian aviation industry has repeated accidents with its aging fleet of planes, jets with Soviet-era Tupolev with a particularly poor standard of safety has been compromised.

This past April, a Tu-154 carries lowered the Polish President Lech Kaczynski and other officials in the fog near the Russian city of Smolensk all its inhabitants killed. In the meantime, in September, a Tu-154 aircraft made an emergency landing on an abandoned runway wonder Russia's Komi remote area power system failed after his escape.

 The Tupolev-134, nicknamed "Crusty" was produced 1966-1984, when over 850 were made. The model, a Soviet twin-engine aircraft that can operate from unpaved airfields, one of the most widely used aircraft in the former Warsaw Pact, but high fuel and maintenance costs, the number in use today.

Since 1971 the aircraft was involved in 20 fatal accidents.

22nd August 2006 : A Russian Tu-154 of Pulkovo Airlines crashes 30 miles north of the city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, killing all 170 passengers and crew members.

29th September  : Hundred 54 people were killed when a Boeing 737-800 operated by low-cost Gol airline crashes in the Amazon rain forest. .

29th October : A Boeing 737 operated by domestic airlines ADC crashes after takeoff on a flight from the Nigerian capital Abuja to Sokoto. Only seven of the 106 people aboard the flight survived. Among the dead was Ibrahim Muhammadu, who as Sultan of Sokoto, the leader of the Muslim community.

1st January 2007 : A Boeing 737-400 of the Indonesian budget carrier Adam Air disappeared from radar screens operated during a flight from Java to Sulawesi islands. Wreckage was located at sea for 10 days later. All 102 passengers and crew members were killed.

5th May : All 114 people aboard a Kenya Airways Boeing 737 are killed when the aircraft crashed torrential rain after takeoff from Douala in Cameroon en route to Nairobi.

17th July : A passenger plane crashed in TAM Brazilian building while trying to land in Sao Paulo, killing 199 people on board and on the ground.

16th September : One-Two-Go, a Thai budget aircraft carries 123 passengers and crew crash landing more on the resort island of Phuket. At least 85 of the 123 passengers were killed and five of the seven crew members.

20th August 2008 : A Spanair MD-82 crashed in the service of the Canary Islands with 166 passengers and six crew members when starting from Madrid airport killing 154 people. The 18 others are seriously injured.

24th August : A Boeing 737-200 belonging to a private Kyrgyz company Itek-Air bound chartered by an Iranian company and for Iran, the accidents at the airport in Bishkek. About 70 people, including members of a local teenage basketball team, has died.

20th May 2009 : A C130 transport aircraft with 110 passengers and crew members and Indonesian military accident ignited 6.5 km (4 miles) from the base Iswahyudi Air Force in East Java while preparing to land, killed 98 people, including two on the ground.

1st June : An Air France Airbus A330-200 aircraft carries 228 people crashes into the Atlantic. Fifty-one dead and 600 pieces of wreckage to be recovered before the search for survivors from 26 June was called

30th June :  A total of Yemen Airways plane with 153 people crashed in the waters of the Indian Ocean archipelago of Comoros.

15th July : A Caspian Airlines plane carries 153 passengers and 16 crew members en route from Tehran to Yerevan, Armenia crashes near the city of Qazvin, killing all its passengers.

25th January 2010 : An Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed with 90 people on board at sea shortly after takeoff from Beirut in a storm.

10th April : Tupolev 154 aircraft with Polish President Lech Kaczynski crashed near the airport of Russia Smolensk, killing more than 90 people on board.

12th May : Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A 330 accidents, while trying to close the airport in Tripoli, Libya country and killing over 100 people.

22nd May : An Air India Express Boeing 737 has surpassed a hill airport in Mangalore, South India, and plunged into a valley, up in flames and killing the 158th

28th July :  A Pakistani plane on a domestic flight from Karachi Airblue accidents in a hill while trying to land in Islamabad, where all 152 people on board.

5th November : A plant Aerocaribbean turboprop passenger in the mountains in central Cuba, killing all 68 people aboard.

9th January 2011 :  At least 77 people were killed and 35 wounded when an Iranian passenger plane Boeing 727 crashed in bad weather in the northwest of Iran.

21st June : About 44 people died when a Russian passenger plane crashed 1 mile from the runway in bad weather.
